課程概述

本學期將從上學期中止處，即
American People第十章(十九世紀上半葉)開始。教
學方式以課堂講授為主。 

課程目標
 介紹美國史重要史實的發生背景、影響及史學解釋。本課特點是以平民百姓角度來詮釋歷
史。讓學生從普通人的角度來了解歷史上的公共事件是如何影響了個人的生活，或是個人
如何塑造了歷史。學生也透過註釋史料，體驗歷史研究之過程。學生如要練習論文寫作
者，則請另加選「美國史研導課」(1個學分)。 
課程要求
 本課程的教科書為Gary B. Nash, et al , The American People: Creating a Nation
and a Society, 6th Edition (Pearson Education, 2004)(以下簡稱為AP)第一冊及第二
冊為必讀教材。另有平時作業，每位同學(或若干同學一組，視修習學生人數多寡而定)，
在Cobbs and Gjerde eds. Major Problems in American History vol. 1及 vol 2,
書中挑選一篇史料做名詞注釋 (或他史料，但須經教師事先同意)。
